Tilmon A. and Margaret E. (Morton) Smith

Margaret Morton

Children

In addition to the children listed, there were others who died young and whose names I don't know. I know nothing more about Joseph and Ritha, who died before death records were kept well, and I found no gravestones for them.

Minnie and Ludie died young, still unmarried. Ludie's death certificate information lists her mother incorrectly as Martha Morton instead of Margaret Morton. Martha was a cousin of both Tilmon and Margaret and was married to Tilmon's brother James Arnold. The informant was E. O. Merrell (Earnest Merrell), husband of her sister Sarah, usually known as Sally according to my mother, who knew her and was her relative.

Nancy's father David and Tilmon's mother Elizabeth were brother and sister.

Source: page 115, Record of Marriages, Henry Co., Tenn., 1881-1890 by Charles Robbins and Johnny D. Walker, Paris, Tenn., Oct. 1883
It is apparent that the year should be 1983 since Johnny Walker was living in 2000.
