James Alexander

  General Notes:

James and Hester were founding members of the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church (1828). He was dismissed for "reports unfavorable to Christian character, excluded for making too free with ardent spirits," 5/1834.
Thomas Alexander's testimony concerning inheritance from Eleanor seems to show that this James was the son of Matthew and Eleanor instead of the son of William and Esther, which means that James C. probably belonged to William and Esther.

Per Sallie Henry, settlement of estate (no will) of James Alexander born 1787, North Carolina?, who married Hester (speculated as Sidwell) shows children: Elender Alexander Sarah A. Alexander Ira C. Alexander Cynthia A. Alexander died before 1867 Matthew Mark Alexander James Preston Alexander Robert Marlin Alexander Arsaphena D. Alexander

Listed next to William Alexander. From listing of others on this part of the census, thiswas probably the part of Stewart County that became Henry County.
