Matthew Alexander
- Born: Bef 1760
- Marriage: <- - - >
General Notes:
Hypothesis is that
William Andrew and younger Matthew are 2 males <10 in 1820. If so,
although they could have been the sons of Matthew and a much younger
wife, I hypothesize further that they young adult male and female in
the family in family in 1820 were their parents.
Matthew Alexander,
Habersham County, got land in the Cherokee Lands lottery in 1838, and
county tax lists and censuses show that he was in GA by 1807.
Research Notes:
"Roster of
Revolutionary Soldiers in Georgia, Vol I", part IV, p 229, Names of
Revolutionary Soldiers Who Drew Land in Cherokee Land Lottery in 1838
and the Counties in Which They Lived (compiled from "The Cherokee Land
Lottery" by James F. Smith, Milledgeville, GA, published in 1830). Also
listed in Vol III, p. 311, chapter named "Cherokee Land Lottery in
1838", which has same information. Matthew Alexander, Habersham County,
GA, is listed.
