believe that this is likely and that Hugh adopted him after his mother
Mary died young.

H. 25 (farmer) and Rubie (Reba?)23 and Ida B. 2.
1880HNp174b: reports birth state as TN, parents' birth state as KY Hugh
P.'s age 34.
1900HNp201b: Hugh P. reports age as 43 but born July 1846. 43 can't be
correct because he had 13-year-old daughter in 1880 (and reported age
differently then.
