Moses McCuiston

Although his name is often claimed to be James Moses, I have found no record that I consider acceptable as proof of one of the given names being James.

Married to Elizabeth (maiden name often said to be Blair)
See End Note 1. The witnessing of the will by Thomas Blair could mean that he was a relative or could mean only that he was a friend.

Buried: Buffalo Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Guilford Co., NC

A look will show that the McQuiston/McCuiston historyNote 1 has some confusing information about Moses and his ancestors. Leona McQueston's history seems to have RobertNote 2 as Moses's father but gives dates that are different from those on record for them by others. I cannot determine the correct dates, but Moses was probably born in the interval from shortly before 1750 to shortly before 1760.

Will, written 5 Dec 1799, names sons Robert, John, and William and refers to daughters but doesn't name them.

Note 2: Moses appears to inherit the property of Robert McCuiston and an older Thomas McCuiston. The naming of Moses's oldest son as Robert supports Moses's father as being Robert.
