bullet  General Notes:

See the information on the 1820 census in Robertson Co., TN. (under Research).

This is undoubtedly the James C., age 65, listed in the 1850 census in Fayette County with William, 31, and Aditha, 32, and their children, James M., 2, and Olive G., 1, and probably William's siblings, John, 23, Nancy J., 14, and James R., 20.

Henry County records show that, in 1847, James C. Alexander and William were in debt to relatives, inlaws, and neighbors, including Hugh M., John P., Isaac D. Gore, and at least one of the Mathises (who have several marriages with the Alexanders). They made deeds of trust, with Hugh holding one, for most of their property to come due at the end of 1848. James C., William, and Aditha, all of appropriate ages, then appear on the 1850 census for Fayette. They left Henry County in 1848-1850.

I have listed these relationships to William and Esther, but they are not absolutely certain.

bullet  Research Notes:

Page 193, Henry County Court minutes: "On motion it is ordered by the court that Thomas Alexander be appointed guardian to Emily C, Paul S., William D., Adaline, Robert, Patrick, and Mary Alexander, minor orpans of William Alexander deceased, who thereupon appeared in open court and entered into bond of six thousand dollars with Hugh M. Alexander and James C. Alexander as his security." This is additional support for James C.'s being related to Thomas and Hugh.

Reportedly from Amy (Gore) Rigg's bible:
First Paragraph: Born in Fayette Co., Miss., moved to Henry Co., Tenn. lived there for ten years, came to Mesquite, TX. in 1882, married Dec. 23, 1886, lived in Dallas Co. for 5 years, moved to Cooke Co., Tx, bought a home stayed 6 years, moved to Montague Co, stayed one year, moved to Indian Terr.Ok. stayed for 5 years, came back to Denton Co., Tx. lived there for the next 25 years.
Second Paragraph: Daughter of James Isaac Gore and Sara Ann Manorva Hall. Her mother was the daughter of Bill Alexander. Uncles names: Jeff, Tommy, Bill, Joey. Her mother was the daughter of John Hall. A uncle: Al Gore. Father's half-brothers: Jeff, Lee, Ran, Horace Gore. Sister: married Jim Gilliam. Aunt married John Walker. Brothers names: James Gore, William Gore. Mother's uncles: Thomason, Gallihugh, Hall, Gore, Alexander, Cousin Rhoda Alexander.
More that is not pertinent from this record

I have a very poorly reproduced copy of a pale pencil record of Amy's (on the same bible I believe) that mentions "uncle Prissly (or Priesly) Alexander, uncle Jolby Alexander, and cousin Rhoda Alexander". There was more that I couldn't read at all.

1820StTNp121: *00010 // 21010 * = 1 or 2 (can't tell) James C. or the other James? Next to William
1820RobTNp10: 100010 // 201** Listed as James C. Alexander Possible, close to Logan County, KY. . (** = 10, probably) A John McMillin, age over 45, was located there (p. 15). A John Priestley was on page 9, interestingly, apparently the only one in the US.

1830HnTN This James was probably Matthew's son James, not James C., because he helped establish Antioch Primitive Baptist Church there about 1828. James C. was apparently not on census (or in Henry County) by 1830. The ages fit the other James's family. (See other James)
